Bohemian Cinema at SXSW 2010

Things are going to be a little different this time around.

Last year I wrote down a goal (though where I wrote it is anyone’s guess): next time I attend SXSW, I’d attend with press credentials. Well, let’s hear it for the power of the subconscious, because come this weekend, I’ll be down in Austin with a Press Badge on behalf of The Official Blog of Slant Magazine:

Perhaps someone needs to have a talk with Alan Ball. When he’s not obsessing over death on the small screen, he’s filling the big screen with middle aged men drooling over jailbait.

“Elizabethtown” (2005)

Whenever I visit my dad’s house, I peruse his DVD library; he adds a movie or two fairly often, so I see what’s new to the collection that I can borrow. Hmm, here’s Elizabethtown. Heard some awful things during the festivals, but some okay stuff when it was released theatrically.

Reviews: 50 Years in the Making?

A friend and I were talking, and he mentioned to me a paraphrase of a quote that says something to the effect of “You have to wait 50 years before you can write history.”
