Everyone knows that the most vocal people are the dissatisfied. It’s not always good to gage any sort of success by these types of reactions because it’s just accepted that the satisfied don’t speak out nearly as much as the disgruntled.

Zodiac: Very Effective

It’s always bothered me that the “Best Visual Effects” Oscar has become synonymous with “a lot of CG.” Practical, organic effects don’t stand a chance against computer-dominated juggernauts like Transformers or King Kong. And at the same time, neither do films that use CG the best: the ones that you didn’t know were using it in the first place.
